Weekly Shopping List & Essentials for Healthy Eating 🍓🍞🥦

calorie deficit Jan 16, 2025

Hey, lovelies! Today, I’m giving you a detailed lowdown on my weekly essentials—a peek into what my shopping list looks like and where I shop for all my favorite bits and pieces. If you’re part of the group, you’ll know I’m always sharing my meals and snacks, so this blog post is all about the staples that keep me going!

I do most of my shopping at Aldi—it’s affordable, convenient, and has some brilliant options for healthy living. Sometimes, I’ll pop into ASDA or Tesco if I spot something specific I want to try. You know how it is—someone posts something delicious, and I’m off to track it down! 😄 Now, let’s get into the weekly must-haves.

Fresh Veggies & Fruits – The Bulk of My Diet 🌱

I wasn’t always a fan of vegetables, but that’s changed massively over the years. Veggies are my go-to for volume eating because they’re filling and low in calories. Nothing beats a big plate of food when you’re in a calorie deficit!
Here are my weekly veggie staples:

  • Carrots – Always in the fridge!
  • Broccoli – I could eat a whole broccoli with dinner, especially with chicken or sausages.
  • Cauliflower – Great for cauliflower cheese (but in moderation due to the calories).
  • Mediterranean Roast Veg Packs – I throw these in the air fryer with seasoning and Frylight—so easy and delicious!

I don’t eat many potatoes because I find other veggies more filling, but I do buy them for the kids or for roast dinners. I prefer my chips crispy and my roasties golden brown.

Fruits? Absolutely love them! I use them in my porridge and yogurt, and they’re perfect for snacks. My staples include:

  • Strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries
  • Bananas and grapes
  • Pomegranate seeds – A new favorite for savoury dishes like flatbreads

Fridge Staples – Snack Heaven 🧀

When it comes to fridge essentials, I’m all about convenience and quick snacks. Here’s what you’ll always find in my fridge:

  • Smoked ham – Great for Thins or Snack-a-Jacks.
  • Fridge Raiders – A snack-time saviour, especially at night.
  • Aldi Coconut & Vanilla Yogurts – 66 calories each and perfect with fruit!
  • Buttermilk Pancakes – My go-to for a quick, tasty breakfast.

I’m also a fan of American cheese slices (perfect for bagels and Big Mac bowls) and garlic soft cheese from Aldi for spreads.

Proteins & Meats 🍗

I’m not a huge meat eater, but I always have chicken, mince, and sausages on hand. Aldi’s 5% mince is perfect for Bolognese, chilli, and Big Mac bowls. For convenience, I love their chicken breast packs in flavours like sweet chilli and Cajun. The wild garlic chicken Kievs are another favorite—especially with broccoli and gravy (yes, gravy with a Kiev—trust me on this one!).

Pantry Staples 🥖

The pantry is where I keep all my essentials for quick meals and snacks. Here’s what’s always stocked:

  • Packet rice – Lime and coriander is my favorite for a quick side.
  • Condiments – Light Caesar dressing from ASDA, sweet chili sauce, and mayo for the kids. I’m a bit of a sauce addict because I can’t stand bland food!
  • Seasonings – Garlic salt, Cajun, and mixed herbs from Aldi are my go-to for roasting veggies or spicing up plain chicken.

I’m also obsessed with bagel seasoning—when Aldi runs out, I order the big tub from Amazon. And of course, I always have Fry-light for cooking with minimal calories.

Snacks & Treats – Balance is Key 🍫

Snacking is life, and I always have a cupboard full of grab-and-go treats. Some of my favorites include:

  • Pom-Bears & Cheetos – Low-calorie and super satisfying.
  • Rice Krispie Squares – A recent obsession. They feel like a proper treat with a cup of tea.
  • Mr. Kipling 60-Calorie Brownies – Tiny but rich and decadent.
  • Party bag snacks – Mini cookies, party rings, and rich tea biscuits are perfect when you just need a little something.

Drinks & Hydration ☕💧

I’ll admit, I need to up my water intake, but I always have orange squash from Aldi to make it more enjoyable. My other drink essentials include:

  • Coke Zero – A couple of cans a day (no guilt here!).
  • Yorkshire Tea – Always in the cupboard.
  • Nescafé Double Mocha Sachets – My newfound love for coffee started with iced lattes and evolved into these delicious sachets from B&M.

Final Thoughts – Essentials for Balance & Convenience

My shopping list might look familiar to some of you, and I hope it gives you some inspiration! I always buy what I love and what keeps me on track while making sure I enjoy my food.

If I see something new and exciting, I’ll grab it—because variety keeps things fun. I’ll always share my finds with you, so stay tuned for more!

Thank you for all your support—truly grateful, as always. 🥺 💫
