My Favourite Go-To Breakfasts: Easy, Tasty & Calorie-Friendly

calorie deficit Mar 13, 2025

Breakfast is my absolute favourite meal of the day—I wake up starving, so I need something filling, tasty, and within my calories. I also like variety because eating the same thing every day gets boring.

So, I did a big shop yesterday, and I thought it was the perfect time to share some of my go-to breakfast choices with you all!

1. Yogurt & Fruit Bowl – Light, Fresh & Delicious

One of my top breakfasts, especially now the weather is getting nicer, is a yogurt & fruit bowl.

Aldi’s Coconut & Vanilla Yogurt – 65 calories per pot (and a decent size at 115g!)
Fresh Fruit – I use strawberries, raspberries & blueberries
Toppings – Biscoff spread, Aldi’s Nutokka, or even peanut butter (depends how I feel!)
Crumpet Thins – Two of these on the side

Total Calories: Around 338 calories

This is a super fresh & filling breakfast—perfect when you want something light but still satisfying.

2. Pancakes – Quick & Easy!

I usually get Aldi’s pancakes, but these Home Bargains ones taste exactly the same!

115 calories per pancake
Warm them up in the microwave for 1 minute
Top with banana, fruit & a spread of choice

I had these today, and honestly, I love them. Such a quick go-to when I want something sweet but balanced.

3. Golden Syrup Oats – My Winter Favourite

Porridge has been my winter breakfast—it’s warm, comforting, and keeps me full for ages.

Golden Syrup Porridge Sachets – I love these for extra sweetness
Made with skimmed milk (I prefer this over water for better taste)
Topped with almond butter & banana

I recently bought smooth almond butter, which is all-natural with no added sugar—so good with porridge!

4. Weetabix – Classic & Simple

I don’t buy brand-name Weetabix, but these Sainsbury’s ones are exactly the same.

134 calories for two biscuits
Served with skimmed milk & fresh fruit
I add a little sugar for extra sweetness

I know some people love Weetabix cheesecakes, but personally, the texture isn’t for me. Plus, I find Greek yogurt too bitter unless it’s sweetened properly. I tried it for two days and got fed up—which is why I like to have a mix of breakfast ideas.

5. Scrambled Eggs – Finally Mastered It!

Recently, I’ve finally perfected my scrambled eggs—and they are so good.

Protein-packed & filling
Goes well with crumpet thins or toast
Easy to switch up with different toppings

If I fancy something savoury, this is perfect.

6. Toast – A Simple Classic

Some mornings, I just want toast—simple but hits the spot.

Topped with Clover Light or cheese spread
Sometimes I add meat paste (don’t judge—it’s actually good!)
Pairs well with coffee or tea

Toast is great when I don’t feel like making anything fancy.

Final Thoughts: Find What Works for You!

Everyone’s different—some people don’t even like breakfast, while others (like me!) wake up starving.

If you love a big breakfast, make it work in your calories.
Try different options—sweet, savoury, hot, cold—so you don’t get bored.
There’s no “right” way to eat—just find what you enjoy!

Hopefully, this gives you some ideas to mix up your mornings! Let me know if you try any of these, and feel free to share your favourite breakfasts too.
